Sawn Treated

Sawn Treated

Sawn Timber stocks

We maintain large stocks of sawn timber boards in Devon. Demand is still high for low-price products suitable for non-structural fencing and cladding applications. Boards are usually cut from fast growing trees here in UK forests. Most sawn timber may appear undersized because 3mm is lost during machining: 25mm sawn usually finishes at 22mm, while the 38mm is approximately 35mm thick.  Our most popular sawn products are 25mm sawn batten and 25mm x 150mm gravel boards.

Tanalised timber and pressure treatment

Our stock sawn timbers are pressure treated with Tanalith or similar timber preservative. These timbers are intended for use above the ground level, this is to improve product service life.  Any cross-cuts made during construction must be treated with end-grain preservative treatment.

Sawn Timber finish and appearance

Supplied timber will be unspecified softwood, most usually Sitka spruce. There may be colour variation between boards even from the same pack. Boards will ultimately fade to grey but if preferred the customer can stain the sawn timber boards earlier in their service life. These sawn timber boards are stored outdoors and at some times of the year the boards may be damp.

Yorkshire Boarding and Agricultural buildings

We maintain large stocks of 150mm width sawn timber for use in the agricultural industry. Popular for use as “Yorkshire boarding” in barns and livestock buildings, stock lengths include 1.8m, 3.0m, 3.6m, 4.2m and 4.8 metres. Deliveries are made daily through much of Devon and Cornwall using our own transport.
