Preparation for application
Decking End Grain Protector is also metioned elswhere as "end grain preservative." This product is intended to stop decking cut ends from absorbing moisture. It is easy to use but because it is highly waterproof you must allow the boards to dry for 2-3 days before sealing. Allowing them to dry before treatment will help prevent the deck ends from rotting prematurely. Warm dry days are recommended for application of protector. Product by its nature should be applied to clean, dry deckboards but if they are dirty use Osmo 6609 to clean timber. This product can be used on the end cuts of cladding, carcassing and timber fencing etc. as well as deckboards,
Purpose of deckboard end preservative
This Ronseal product prevents the cut ends of your decking from rotting and keeps them strong. It protects against rot and decay and helps your decking last longer. Our Decking End Grain Protector is highly waterproof, which helps to lock out the water. It can be painted over with a quality furniture stain or decking oil, so your deck will look great and stay healthy for longer.

Finishing the timber protection
Suitable for use on softwood and hardwood decking. Hardwood timbers best left to exude any natural oils. New hardwood decking tends to have natural oils which stop the deckboards from absorbing preservative. Coverage of approx. 12 square metres per litre. Rainproof and touch dry in 90 minutes, but don't leave for more than 4 hours. Two coats required. Some manufacturers insist that any timber cuts are treated with this product otherwise any decking warranty would be null and void.
