We offer a choice of two pressure treated capping rails. Although they are designed to provide a finishing touch to your featheredge fence they can be used for other products too.
With a featheredge fence we always suggest you use gravel boards to stop the vertical featheredge boards from soaking up moisture from the grass or garden soil beneath it. Capping rails provide a finishing touch to the top of your fence and also deflect rainwater from the top of the featheredge. They are not a substitute for applying Ronseal end-grain treatment to any cross cut boards.
Flat Bottomed Capping
We keep in stock a planed flat bottomed capping, the finished width is 70mm making it possible to use this product with featheredge or square topped fencing pales of 20mm or 25mm. Most fencers will fix this capping to the top rail and then offer the featheredge up to it. Alternatively if it is being used between posts it can be cut to the exact width of each bay. These quality fence capping’s are supplied in 3.6 metre lengths
This product is pressure treated using Next generation TANALITH E wood preservative which provides a 15 year TREATED-RIGHT performance warranty against wood decay and insect attack (terms and conditions apply). This capping is covered by Treated-Right.
Other capping options - rebated capping
Our rebated fence capping provides a little more cover where the fence level isn’t 100% level! With sloping gardens it is hard to mask changes in level especially with flat-bottomed capping. This is probably why we sell 10 rebated featheredge capping timbers for every flat-bottomed capping. Supplied in 3.6 metre lengths.
