We carry a wide range of square sawn posts to cover fencing and constructional needs. Larger section sawn posts up to 200mm square, Permaposts and smooth planed posts, are described elsewhere. Sawn tanalised posts are useful for many fencing, decking and structural applications. This page focuses on the popular 75mm posts
These sawn 75mm x 75mm posts are ideal for supporting trellis and low wind resistance panels. They wll work with privacy panels and fences in sheltered positions but won't last as long as a 100m post. Therefore for privacy panels and windy areas a 100mm x 100mm post would be preferable. These sawn 75mm posts are also useful as bearers for ground contact support on smaller sheds and for cutting into shorter lengths for supports in raised beds.
75mm x 75mm, tanalised at 1.8 metres (approx. 6')
75mm x 75mm, tanalised at 2.4 metres (approx. 8')
75mm x 75mm, tanalised at 3.0 metres (approx. 10')
Post and rail fences and agricultural fences normally utilise the 75mm x 125mm posts. They provide a larger face to securely fix horizontal rails to. Also we stock 75mm x 150mm posts, a popular choice for fences adjoining dual carriageways and country roads.
75mm x 125mm, tanalised at 1.8 metres (approx. 6')

Sawn Posts visual appearance
Finally, all of our posts are pressure treated, most of them with Tanalith E preservative. This treatment gives the timber a light green tint which soon mellows to pale brown then grey. Just because a post turns grey does not mean that the preservative is diminished. The post will remain protected against fungal and insect attack. However any cross cuts or drill holes should be treated with Ronseal Decking End Grain Protector .
