12 x 41mm PSE Fillet for rebated handrail and baserail
Balustrade installations normally use the moulded redwood hand and base rail which are rebated for 41mm spindles. The 12mm rebate accommodates the spindles which should be spaced with a maximum 100mm gap between them. Use in conjunction with our 900mm and 1100mm spindles.
12mm Pressure treated fillet
This is an exterior product and is pressure treated with preservative. If the spindles are damp when being installed, they might need a gentle tap when fitting. Alternatively, they could be put under cover for a few days to reduce the moisture content. Most installers normally secure the fillet in the rebated channel with a stainless-steel panel pin.
Softwood spindles are available pre-cut in 0.9m and 1.1 metre lengths. Fillet is available in 3.3 metre lengths to ensure correct and consistent spacing of no more than 100mm between spindles. Please note that any deck edges raised 600mm, or higher, than the ground should use 1.1 metre spindles to comply with building regulations.
This product is pressure treated using Next generation TANALITH E wood preservative which provides a 15 year TREATED-RIGHT Performance Warranty against wood decay and insect attack (terms and conditions apply).
Other uses for 12mm x 41mm fillet
This is a nicely finished, smooth planed product. It is a mid-priced raw material, and the price reflects how much machining is required to cut to these dimensions. We have sold this product to Trade customers who have made bespoke sized trellis for their customers. Others have used it to make their own slatted panels. This tanalised/pressure treated product is only supplied in 3.3 metre lengths. However, if you need a batch of say 3.9 metres or 2.7 metres cutting, we can approach the mill for a special run. We would anticipate a minimum bespoke order to be 400 metres depending on length availability.
