Feather edge (or featheredge) panels remain a popular fencing option. This Suffolk feather edge panel is constructed using overlapping taper-sawn boards. Most of the panel’s strength is derived from how the home-grown timber components are assembled.
Panel sizes available:
SUFF66: 6’ wide x 6’ high aka 1.83m x 1.83m;
SUFF65: 6’ wide x 5’ high aka 1.83m x 1.52m;
SUFF64: 6’ wide x 4’ high 1.83m x 1.22m and finally:
SUFF63: 6’ wide x 3’ high aka 1.83m x 0.92m .
Fencing components
This truly excellent panel is fully framed with 60mm x 25mm sawn timber. The total panel depth is 40mm. All Suffolk Panels are topped off with two-way weather capping. on the top of the fence to encourage the water to run off the panel. Half-lap timber joints are used to construct the panel frame giving the panel strength and rigidity.
Each panel uses 125mm wide feather boards with an average lap of 25mm. Thus means that each 1.83m panel has 18 vertical slats on each panel. Panels are pressure treated with preservative to withstand the elements and provide security and privacy around domestic and commercial properties for years to come.
Versatile featheredge boards and fences
Feather edge panels are used in both residential and commercial applications. These fences offer security and privacy. We recommend 100mm x 100mm square treated fence posts.
The maximum post height for a fence is 2.0 metres, but most opt for 2.4 metre fence posts with 450mm-600mm fixed in the ground. Further protection for the panels can be obtained by fitting a 150mm ‘gravel board’ at the fence bottom. You would need 2.4 metre posts for these panels if you are digging holes
