James Hardie Backerboards

Damp areas of the home such as kitchens and bathrooms are particularly prone to the negative influence of water on tile backer boards. Better protection against moisture damage is provided by using Hardie® Backer tiling backer board.   Traditional materials such as plywood and plasterboard are liable to break or disintegrate when wet.

Southern Timber stock both 6mm and 12mm Hardie® Backer board, the 6mm is for floor and the 12mm for wall. There is no loose aggregate or filler, providing a strong and uniform composition. Hardie Backer Board is designed to resist rot, swelling and warping when exposed to moisture. This water-resistant cement backerboard works perfectly well with tile or natural stone flooring.

The light, easy-to-cut, no-mesh board features an EZ Grid recessed pattern, making installation even easier. Backerboard comprises 90% Portland cement and sand, with the Hardie backer score-and-snap knife the boards are easy to cut.
