Plasterboard Accessories

In addition to 9.5mm and 12.5mm plasterboards we carry plasterboard adhesive and other plasterboard accessories.

Fixing the plasterboard

We carry both standard and specialist plasterboards. Fixing the sheets should be easiest on new flat walls, but that isn’t always the case. Start with careful measurement and when cutting the plasterboard, ensure that the correct plasterboard face is positioned outwards.

On straight studwork walls plasterboard can be fixed firmly with drywall screws which should be corrosion resistant with a countersunk head.

If surfaces are uneven then Gyproc DriWall plasterboard adhesive can be used for dot and dab fixing. DriWall has approximately 90 minutes working time and 3 hours setting time.

Scrim Tape is used to tape the ends of the joints in the plasterboard. It has good adhesion and is waterproof as well. Scrim tape fills the gaps where plasterboard sheets butt together and helps to stop the joints from cracking. Scrim tape should only be used between panels and at internal corners.

External corner trims are designed to reduce wear and tear on plaster boarded edges.. Once the corner trim is attached apply a layer of joint compound on either side of the corner bead. Different types of bead are kept in stock - corner bead, angle bread, edge bead and stop bead.

Thistle MultiFinish Plaster 25kg provides a smooth surface to internal walls and ceilings, and a durable base for decorative finishes. MultiFinish can also be used for small repair jobs and patching.
