Oak Veneered MDF
MDF is an engineered wood product, usually sold in 2440mm x 1220mm sheets. We sell oak veneered MDF boards for shopfitting, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathrooms and doors.
Properties of MDF
MDF is manufactured by bonding fine wood-fibres under pressure using a resin adhesive and consequently it is extremely consistent in thickness and structure. MDF boards fluctuate less in thickness when compared to either wood or ply.
Manufacturing Veneered MDF
The oak veneers are graded for appearance and are normally between 0.6mm and 0.8mm thick. After grading they are bonded to the main MDF sheet. These sheets carry an A grade oak veneer one side and a B grade veneer on the other.
Oak surface veneer differs from batch to batch, sometimes it is European Oak and other times it may be American Oak

MDF Precautions
Finally, MDF boards should ideally be cut outdoors or in a workshop with ventilation. This is because most MDF contains urea-formaldehyde, and some formaldehyde is released when MDF is cut.
