Product Details

7 x 5 Tanalised Pent Shed Construction and Tanalith Treatment

This Tanalised Pent shed is constructed using pressure treated (Tanalith-E) timber to increase the service life of the structure. Shed walls are made from ex-19mm x 125mm shiplap cladding which has a generous 17mm lap to help minimise water ingress during prolonged dry weather spells. When assembled the shed must be treated with a quality water repellent. Each section is framed with ex-38mm x 50mm timber, which when assembled produces a robust shed.

Door height is approx. 1.75m (5’ 8”), the external eaves height is approx. 1.96m (6ft 4 inch) and from ground level to the top of the Apex is approximately 2.13 metres (7’) This height calculation includes the width/height of 75mm posts to sit the shed on. Internal heights are 1.77m and 1.91metres.

The width of the standard door entrance is 730mm (approx. 2ft 4″), which should be sufficient for most garden machinery, including lawnmowers. Doors are constructed so they can be hung on the right or left hand side of the opening. The window uses perspex to reduce breakages

Both the shed floor and shed roof are made using tanalised ex-22mm x 125mm tongue & grooved timber boards (finish sizes 18mm x 110mm) with a 9mm tongue. It is very unusual to find any shed using this quality of material, especially at this price. A quantity of 20Kg roofing felt is included for the customer to finish the roof after assembly. Delivery is free throughout most of South Devon, please verify your Post Code when ordering.

Treated-Right 15 Year Manufacturers Warranty

This product is pressure treated using Next generation TANALITH E wood preservative which provides a 15 year TREATED-RIGHT Performance Warranty against wood decay and insect attack (terms and conditions apply).  There are Terms & Conditions with their Warranty, these are available on request.

Delivery and assembly

At Southern Timber we offer a free kerbside delivery through the Torbay, Teignbridge, Exeter, South Hams and Plymouth areas. While most deliveries are free sometimes they may be chargeable depending on location and the total value of the order.

Our deliveries of sheds in Devon and Cornwall are made in sectional form, they are not ideally suited to a mechanical offload. Therefore with shed deliveries we require an able bodied person to be onsite to help the driver offload the shed.  This is because sections of the shed are bulky as well as being heavy.

Each shed is delivered in sectional kit form and they are relatively easy to assemble. A concise set of assembly instructions is supplied with each shed. Where necessary we can supply details of tradesmen to erect your shed in most areas of South Devon. Their fee will depend on the traveling time and amount of work involved. To maximise the life of your shed use a quality water repellent such as Thompson’s Water Seal on the shed timbers.  Further details are attached to the inside of each and every shed door. Ensure your shed is positioned on timber post bearers as described below

Tanalised Pent Shed Assembly

All our sheds should have a minimum clearance of 300mm (12”) all around to allow for shed assembly and for maintenance. An earth base is suitable for this shed, but paving slabs or gravel would be better. The most important thing is that the site is self draining and that UC4 (user Class 4) pressure treated posts are used as bearers under the shed. Even tanalised structural timbers are not sufficient, only UC4 (and above) timbers are treated for use in ground contact applications. The shed manufacturer stress as part of their 15 Year Warranty that “Shed bearers must be Use Class 4 treated. If the shed is positioned directly on to a concrete base then this must have drainage to avoid standing water.”

Guttering Options

In 2016 we took the decision to stock guttering products, mainly due to demand from customers buying our tanalised timber garden sheds.  To make things easier for the tradesman we have calculated that the following guttering products should complement our Premier Tanalised Pent 7’ x 5’ shed

2 x 2metre 76mm Black MiniFlo Gutters (RGM2)
1 x 76mm Black MiniFlo Gutter Union Brackets (RUM1)
1 x 76mm Black MiniFlo Stop End Outlets (ROM2)
2 x 50mm Black MiniFlo Pipe Clips (RCM1)
1 x 76mm Black MiniFlo External Stop Ends (REM1)
1 x 2 metre Black MiniFlo Down Pipe (RPM2)
3 x 76mm Black MiniFlo Fascia Brackets (RKM1)
1 x 50mm Black MiniFlo Down Pipe Shoes (RBM3)

Fixing screws are not supplied with our shed guttering kits.  FloPlast recommend using 25mm x 5mm screws but it is important that screw fixings do not protrude through the timbers to the shed interior.

Our Premier Tanalised sheds feature roofs with a small overhang. This should enable the MiniFlo down pipe to run vertically down the shed side.  This is suitable for where the rainwater is running down to the ground through a down-pipe shoe to a suitable soak away.

If you are planning to use a water butt then select our rainwater retention option, this involves the use of 112° offset bends onto each down pipe to create a swan neck.
