Porcelain paving and sandstone slabs

Paving slabs return to our growing garden product range and the borders of “indoors” and “outdoors” continue to blur. More time is being spent in family gardens for entertaining and leisure.  Existing products are being further developed such as artificial grass and composite decking. Where does it all fit?

Gardens – the big pieces

Because of the changing dynamics of the garden your positioning of log cabins, sheds and summerhouses have to be reconsidered. That doesn’t mean a summerhouse has to be dismantled and moved. Instead consider where these larger pieces of the puzzle are positioned, then plan patio areas and pathways around them. Pathways and patio areas will guide foot traffic through the garden, with discreet fencing to screen any unsightly features.  

Garden dining, furniture and entertaining

Garden dining products include picnic benches, companion seats and dining sets. Other structures looking for space include arches, arbours, log stores and planters.  Your paving choice will form part of your patio design, plus the paving material you choose will form the backdrop for everything else.

Installation of Porcelain Paving and Sandstone Slabs

When pricing the installation please note that Porcelain tiles can be time consuming to lay. Because they are thinner than concrete slabs the tiles require a prepared installation area that is adequately deep, properly compacted and finished with a final levelled layer of sand. Tools for laying the saving are also more specialised – and expensive.

Raw materials are different as well, with Porcelain towards the upper end of the paving prices, certainly above concrete and many of the natural stones.
