We supply many timber garden products from our Devon base, including a wide variety of Timber Garden Sheds. Over time other shed variants - Summerhouses, Log Cabins and Garden Rooms – have been developed to satisfy changes in demand.

Traditional Garden Sheds – falling prices

Wooden Sheds have been part of the Southern Timber family for nearly 25 Years. Initially they were built to order, but the market became flooded with “off the shelf” cheap sheds.

Sheds were mainly from Eastern Europe, but shed sizes were limited to 6’ x 4’, 8’ x 6’ and 10’ x 6’, and there was no choice of door/window positions.

Volume is everything, fortunately, the increased demand for other garden buildings did not reduce demand for the humble garden shed.  In fact, changes in work/life balance boosted sales of the “Garden Bar” (a small shed converted into a bar) –during the Covid Pandemic,

Keeping it dry

Many of our wooden sheds are pressure-treated with preservative to prevent wood decay and insect attacks. All Timber sheds should must be painted with a proprietary water repellent coating every year. Ensure the external shed timbers are dry and follow the paint/stain instructions carefully.

Drop shipping products and online ordering

Timber sheds are bulky and heavy, which makes long-distance delivery very challenging. Our Timber Sheds are sourced from three UK-based suppliers, with Huttons delivered mainly to Devon and Cornwall.
