Raised Beds
Raised beds can be very useful in the garden, especially the taller beds which save a lot of bending. Some designs can also double up as a place to sit.
Location of your raised bed will determine how much sun the bed will receive. Raised beds in the shade of garages and fences may need more watering depending on drainage and water run-off.
Raised beds come into their own if you have poor soil, or have soil that isn’t suited to the plants you want to grow. If the garden is predominantly alkaline soil, then would struggle with loving plants such as blueberries. However, by using a raised bed you can add ericaceous compost to increase the acidic content.
Finally, raised beds invariably warm up quicker, making them useful in extending the growing season.
