Interior Oils

Development of hard wax oils

Floor finishing specialists Osmo and Treatex have been improving their Hardwax Oils almost continuously for over 20 years. A great deal of attention is paid to product development. Now they both have quality products that are durable and can be applied far easier than traditional beeswax.

Benefits of hard wax oils

Osmo Polyx Oil contains high solids, this helps make them durable and hardwearing. They are water, dirt and abrasion resistant. Hard wax oil provide resistance to spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola and wine. Saliva-resistant and sweatproof, suitable for children’s toys. Please note these products are solely for interior use.

Over time a microporous, breathable finish develops which does not crack, peel, flake or blister. Osmo Polyx oil tints can be used to bring more colour to the floor, pine mouldings, door, oak mouldings, or furniture.

Osmo Polyx oils are easy to use, however one common error is to apply too much oil which then slows down drying.  Dense hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.) need treating with a product such as Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.

Occasional Maintenance

For the spot cleaning of stubborn scuff marks, or occasionally refreshing of Polyx-Oils use a Liquid Wax Cleaner or the Floor Care. Both items replenish the protective layer of wax while it cleans.  Alternatively, Osmo Maintenance Oils can be used to occasionally refresh most Polyx Oil sheen levels, including matt. Ensure surfaces are appropriately cleaned before thinly applying Osmo Maintenance Oils.
