Oak Flooring

Our oak wood flooring boards are tongue and groove along the long edges.  These solid Oak boards are machined from American White Oak. We buy a specific production grade to maintain the consistency of these oak flooring boards.

Oak flooring specification

This oak has a lower moisture content which gives them greater stability. Board lengths are normally between 3.05 to 4.29 metres.  We do not recommend using these boards with underfloor heating systems. Our solid oak flooring boards can be secret-fixed with Tongue-Tite stainless screws.

Because the oak is a mixed character/rustic grade, it does display a variety of figures which gives colour, large and small knots, and splits. Allow for 15% wastage when estimating the quantity required.  Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil is available in transparent along with a range of Colour Tints. 

Using oak wood flooring

These boards are ideal for high foot traffic areas, are easy to clean, and can be sanded and refinished. We recommend acclimatising the new flooring in the room where it will ultimately be laid. This is typically 14 days before laying. The machined boards have a central tongue so that the preferred board face can be selected before fitting. 

If the flooring is being laid with adhesive then it must be flexible such as Osmo MS Advance. If nailing or screwing to the subfloor then these battens must be seasoned and dry. Do not use any damp timbers in the installation because the moisture will be absorbed by the oak boards.
