These Character Oak trims are planed along the long edges, they can be used in a variety of applications - a common use being doorstop. These solid Oak trims are machined from character graded American White Oak. We buy this oak from the same Supplier as our oak flooring to achieve some consistency of product appearance. Moisture content is regulated by kiln drying down to 8-10 % to which gives a greater stability to the boards. These solid oak trims are variable lengths, at the time of writing we have 2.13m and 2.44m lengths in stock. Oak boards can be fixed with stainless steel nails or brads,
Because the oak is a character grade it will display a variety of figuring which gives colour, with large and small knots and splits, if you want a cleaner appearance you should allow for 15%-20% wastage. Board widths stocked in Oak PSE and Oak Flooring
If you have access to a workshop then you might want be inclined to machine some oak boards to specific lengths and/or widths. Our oak floor boards are usually available in ex. 115mm, 140mm, 165mm, 190mm and 215mm widths. Board lengths available will fluctuate so if you intend to collect specific lengths then best to call and verify first.
Oak PSE timber boards are ideal for high traffic areas, they are easy to clean and maintain and can be sanded and refinished. We recommend acclimatising your oak timber for a minimum of 10-14 days prior to laying - this should be in the room where they are to be fitted. We do not recommend using these boards with underfloor heating systems. If using adhesive it must be totally flexible such as Osmo MS Advance or (Sika -52/-54). If nailing or screwing, the battens in the subfloor then these battens must be dry. If the batten timbers are wet then the moisture will be absorbed by the oak boards.
