Square Post and rails

We sell high-quality square posts and rails, ideal for a variety of fencing projects. We stock a wide variety of square fence posts in various sizes. Our posts are sawn and pressure-treated so that they are durable and resistant to weather and rot. We also sell several square posts treated with the Tanalith E preservative, which provides long-term protection for timber from fungal decay and insect damage.

Post and rail fences are often used for larger livestock, usually a simple rail fence without wire. Typically, these fences use 75mm x 125mm square-edged posts and 38mm x 88mm rectangular rails.

Square Posts

We keep good stocks of square posts for fencing, either 100mm x 100mm, or alternatively 75mm x 125mm. Typically 1/3 of the post is dug into the ground. 100m posts include a UC4 option with post-incisions allowing a greater penetration of preservative. Customers must register for the Manufacturer's  15-year service life warranty on these UC4 posts.

Another option would be 75mm x 125mm posts at 1.8 or 2.1 metres. When using these standard posts we recommend bitumen-based Post Savers to improve longevity for the square posts.

Rail choice is normally 38mm x 88mm for sheep, or 47mm x 100mm for horses or cattle. A square Post and Rail Fence can be reinforced with an extra rail. In terms of wire fencing, we keep stock-fencing in mild steel and high-tensile options. Barbed and plain wire are also standard stock items.

Gateposts and farm gates

Fields need gates, so we keep four sizes of gate posts including the largest at 200mm square. Posts are 2.4m long and post holes are usually dug 800mm deep. The larger gate posts are normally incised because the manufacturer offers a Guarantee for qualifying customers.
