Fixings and Accessories
Getting it right
Hardwood deckboards are very attractive, especially when wet. However, they can get a little "lively" and might warp and twist if not fixed securely. Your boards can be installed by using an impact driver, or alternatively the screws can be driven straight in with no pre-drilling. Our preference is for the boards to be pre-drilled before fixing.
Stainless steel deck screws
Decking screws don’t have to be invisible to be beautiful. Use A2 or A4 stainless screws and position in the outer grooves for best fixing. See Deck-Tite plus 50mm and 63mm stainless screws for more details.
OSMO sealing Wax.
When any timber is crosscut there is a danger of water penetration, the boards cam then swell and crack. Follow the OSMO sealing wax instructions to help maintain the beauty of your hardwood decking
Hardwood decking oils.
Decking oils can be a hard choice with hardwood. Balau boards show a range of attractive Reddy -brown shades when first painted, ted but they will need replenishing depending on
Teak 007 decking oil is extremely popular but provides no UV protection from the sun’s UV rays whatsoever. The deckboards will fade from a warm brown to a medium grey in approx.. 2-3 years. If you want to keep some colour in the boards then please buy a pigmented oil.
A final point, do not be tempted to use a power hose on any deckboard, especially hardwood species. Use a low power hose and a brush.
