TGV
Our preferred TGV timber cladding is machined from redwood pine sourced from Scandinavia. At Southern Timber, we offer several TGV boards machined from high-quality timber, providing durability and aesthetic appeal.
The standard TGV cladding is machined from ex.16m x 100mm and finishes at 11 mm x 94mm. Used in bedrooms, kitchens, reception areas, and similar areas where the product might experience some ‘abuse’. These TGV boards will take some wear and tear.
Alternative cladding
There are two main alternatives, the ex.19mm x 100mm (external, pressure treated) and ex.16mm x 150mm (internal Bead and Butt). The 19mm could be used indoors, especially in buildings (e.g. scout hut) that suffer from condensation.
Fixings and finishing
One thing to watch with any slim cladding timber is cupping. This tends to happen in damp areas where one side gets, or stays, wet. When the other side dries out it starts to “shrink” and the board starts to cup. The easiest answer is to make sure that both sides are painted before installation. In particular, the ends should also be painted, or dabbed, with preservative
TGV cladding is normally secured with invisible fixings, i.e. a panel pin on every batten to give a uniform impression. Traditional TGV cladding adds character and charm to a wide range of properties.
