Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar timber cladding is still popular for adding extra character to existing buildings and cladding timber framed structures. Whether you have a self-build, loft conversion or house extension there is a Western Red (WR) Cedar cladding option either from stock, or machined to order, for you. Square edge section, ex 50mm, planed cedar is also available from stock.

Our western red cedar shiplap, aka shadow-gap, boards are ex 22mm x 150mm and finish at 17mm thick with a cover of approximately 134mm. Cedar board lengths are variable but the majority are usually in the range of 2.44m to 3.97m (8′ to 13′). As with all cedar the colour from board to board varies from a pale pink to a richer red/brown colour.

We keep TGV (Tongue & Groove) WR Cedar timber in ex.100mm and ex.150mm widths along with L-shaped sections for building corners. WR Cedar shingles and ridges are available from stock. Stainless steel fixings include nails, screws and Paslode gun nails.

OSMO UV reducing finishes are available in clear and a variety of tints. The clear OSMO UV 420 Clear product will slow down the greying of the red cedar hues. However, only regular application of the pigmented OSMO UV 428 Cedar and OSMO UV 425 Oak will maintain more colour for longer
