Planters
Many vegetables, herbs and shrubs and trees can be grown in planters. They add structure and interest to “quieter” parts of the garden - doorsteps, patios and spaces between larger features. Planters and small pots can brighten up these quiet voids.
Planters and Decking
All decks, even composite, need some airflow. Many planters have small feet or timber runners to lift the planter base off the deck. However, the best-case scenario for planters on a wood deck is minimal, or zero, contact. Don't overwater the Planters because no matter how careful you are the boards will absorb excess moisture.
Mix-and-Match Potted Plant Arrangements
For a high visual impact, use a variety of textures and sizes when you're planting. Even if you choose plants that look entirely different, you can tie the grouping together with co-ordinated neutral containers and repeat some plants in several planters.
Customising the Planters
To improve the appearance of your arrangements you can use planters of different heights. Elevate some of your planters at the back by stacking them on old house bricks or even an upside-down pot.
Planters for exotic plants
Planters can be used to grow plants that wouldn’t normally survive in our climate. It might be a temporary tropical container garden for the summer with a few favourite houseplants. When the weather turns too chilly to keep them outside, they can be put in the Conservatory or greenhouse.
