Composite Deck Accessories
When considering composite decking you will need some Composite Deck Accessories. You will need to verify how it is going to be installed, or ask us for advice, before you place your order. While the composite installation is similar to that of softwood or hardwood decks there are a few steps unique to composite products. Due to this reason a number of specialist trims and accessories have been developed to make installs quicker and neater to the eye.
Composite Deck Accessories
Composite deckboards are made primarily from a mix of approximately 60% recycled hardwood fibres and 40% recycled polyethylene. These raw materials are mixed with a bonding agent, colour tint and other additives. An anti-UV agent is added during manufacture and this helps the boards to resist colour fading. However, there will be some fading of colour over time, but this should not detract too much, more of a weathering look that occurs in areas exposed to prolonged direct sunlight.
Composite Decking Starter Clips
Firstly, the stainless steel starter clips to fit both hollow and solid composite decking boards. A starter clip is required for each joist, the fixed clips are aligned so that they fit snugly ito the deckboard groove. Because these starter clips allow you to start and finish your decking precisely you shouldn’t have a large gap when fitting against a wall of fence. Each pack contains 50 clips.
Composite Decking T-Clips
Plastic T-Clips with stainless steel wood screws to fit inside the grooves of the decking boards. As well as securing the composite deckboards the T-Clips act as a horizontal spacer. These T-Clips and 4 x 45mm stainless steel screws are supplied in packs of 100 of each item. As a rule of thumb you will need a minimum of 11 T-Clips for each 4 metre board and 7 T-Clips for each 2.4 metre board.
Composite Joists
The composite joists can only be used with a hard concrete base to build a supporting substructure suitable for most domestic decking areas. These tend to be mainly for balconies or flat roof installs. Each joist measures 4000mm x 50mm x 30mm and they are only available in charcoal colour. As with other joists for composite decking each joist should be spaced no more than a maximum of 400mm apart. We also stock larger section Plaswood and timber joists for other decking scenarios.
Composite Corner Trims
Corner trims are used to finish and seal composite decking. Manufactured from the same composite material as the decking and available in all eight matching colours. These deck trims can be cut and sanded in the same way as timber. The trims are easy to clean and maintain and require no paint or staining. Available in two sizes, either 37mm x 62mm or 55mm x 55mm. Both trims are supplied in 2.2 metre lengths.
Composite Skirting Trim
Similarly the skirting trims enable you to finish and seal your new decking or wall cladding installation. Manufactured from the same composite material as the decking and is available in all eight matching colours. The skirting trims are 55mm x 10mm and are supplied in 2.2 metre lengths
