38 x 88mm Sawn Pressure Treated Rails (FSC Mix)
Sawn, pressure treated fence rails are mainly used for featheredge fencing and "Post and rail". These fence rails are machined from unseasoned timber, then cut into popular lengths. All the timbers are pressure treated, aka tanalised, at the mill.
Fencing rail lengths
The most common use for 38 x 88mm rails is the framework for a featheredge fence. Our standard rail lengths are 3.0m, 3.6m, 4.2m and 4.8 metres which means that the post spacing can be varied to suit the installation site. Ideally rail Joints should be staggered so that the rails do not meet on the same

Putting some Osmo colour into your garden
What could be better than relaxing in your own garden on a summer’s day. A little colour in the right place will freshen up your outdoors even more - touch up the colours of a fence, old garden shed or renovating a gate. With the right products from Osmo, your garden will be rejuvenated and you will have more time to enjoy your garden.
Making light work of it
One of the beauties of Osmo is that almost all Osmo coatings and finishes can be applied directly without any sanding – no priming either, just two thin coats of Osmo Country Colour can perform miracles. This is also the case when Osmo products were used for the previous coating.
An opaque finish
For coatings from other manufacturers, Osmo recommends sanding down the surface before adding any Osmo products. When re-applying it is best to use a roller on smooth surfaces and

Before and after photos of fencing
Do you have an old garden fence, blowing in the wind? Odds are that it is letting the dog (and the kids) out. But it doesn't have to be that way. More quality fences are coming onto the market, and here are a few ideas if you need to repair your boundary fence this Autumn.
First of all, we have a simple boarded fence which blew down earlier in the year. The customer called in a local contractor (James AA Gordon) and he recommended a new DuraPost fencing system.
Looking at the length of fencing that blew over, the rotten posts can be seen on the right-hand side of the fencing slats. Durapost were suggested because they manufacture pre-galvanised

Garden Fencing all year round
The latest "Beast from the East" due in late November 2022 may be averted but wet weather and high winds are a feature of the British climate. Constant heavy rain followed by high winds will soften the ground and posts become loose - a fatal combination for the garden fence. It is worth considering your current fencing and whether you will repair or replace your existing fencing style.
Repair or Replace?
Whatever fence styles you may have you will need to check your existing fence posts, are they loose and is there any rotting just below ground level? If some posts are rotten then you can use repair spurs or add extra intermediate posts on a featheredge fence run. If you do replace the posts then you may want to invest in

Featheredge boards and lengths
Without going into too much detail we thought we would answwer some typical issues with featheredge boards, or are they featheredge slats? To add to the confusion they are also known as closeboarding. Featheredge is a traditional board commonly used in agricultral buildings. Normal sized lengths are:
125mm width at 1.2m, 1.65m and 1.8 metres;
150mm width at 1.05m, 1.2m, 1.65m, 1.8m, 2.4m, 3.0m and 3.6 metres;
175mm width at 4.8 metres.
What overlap for the boards?
We keep in stock 125mm, 1S0mm and 175mm sawn featheredge boards. The 125mm are intended to be used in fencing applications, the 150mm are available 2.4m/3.0m and 3.6 metre lengths making them more suitable for cladding garden sheds, workshops, field shelets and other similar outdoor buildings. Our 175mm featheredge is cut from thicker blanks and normally available in 4.8 metre lengths.
