A Good Customer of Southern Timber - John Pook from DDE Electrical Engineering came to Aaron Millman from Southern Timber wanting to winterproof a log cabin he had back at home. Aaron went up to have a look at the best options for cladding the cabin. It was then later agreed that some douglas fir waney edge would be most cost effective and look amazing with the area where it was located.
John then placed his order with Southern Timber and within a few weeks it had arrived. Over the course of 5 weekends total John, Aaron and other friends completed the cladding on the cabin. The cabin is much warmer and looks fantastic thanks to the materials and expert help / advice from Southern Timber.
Here at Southern Timber, we are able to supply a vast species of timber in Decking, Cladding and even fencing applications via special order.
If you have an enquiry, please email it to [email protected]

How to clean Mold and Mildew off Composite Decking
The effects of mold are generally more serious than those of mildew. Mold damage structures and cause serious long-term health issues. Reactions include breathing issues, fatigue and migraines.
Furthermore, those with a mold allergy could experience sneezing, congestion and eye, skin and throat irritation. For this reason, its critical that you remove mold from your deck as soon as possible. While composite decking is resistant to many things, it is not impervious to mold and mildew. Luckily, removing mold from your deck is not difficult. Just follow these steps:
- Pressure wash. Using a pressure washer, remove as much of the mold as you can.
- Prepare a solution. Make a solution of vinegar and water with two-parts vinegar and one-part

While they generally do not grow on synthetic materials such as plastic, metals and composite decking, dirt left on composite decking can feed mold and mildew spores.
Mold and Mildew differ primarily in their appearance. Mildew tends to be grey or white, fuzzy or powdery in texture and is typically found on plant leaves, making the plants appear to be sick. As mildew b
