DURA2 have been working hard to find an acceptable replacemnt for Creosote. They have managed to find a solution, producing timber products with the long lifecycle of creosote and more user-friendly qualities. DURA2 is produced using slow grown timber.
The Dura2 answer
Slow grown Pine timbers taken from the forests of Northern Germany and Poland with PEFC certification. The timbers receive an initial kiln drying, and then they are treated with Arxada Tanaklith E. This treatment cycle and the solution treatment is the same cycle and solution strength as the 30 Year UK Highway specification.
These timber materials are kiln dried and treated for a second time. This cycle uses the "Lifestyle" brown additive added to the preservative. This Tanalith treatment gives the posts a deep brown colour.
This second treatment stage targets any fresh movement in the timber surface. This movement can occur after the second kiln cycle, but second course of treatment helps with a deeper penetration and loading of the timber presevative.

This thorough and methodical treatment is above and beyond the 30 Year service life specification. Because of this DURA2 show their confidence by providing a 20 Year guarantee with these treated posts. Benefits for installlers include no residue, reduced odours and a nice chestnut finish. End users can now also benefit from increased usage in customer facing attractions including tourist attractions, zoos and equestrian centres.
