Planed Pale Garden Gates
Round Top Pale gates are popular where privacy is not an issue. These pale gates are made to match our ready-made pale panels as closely as possible. Therefore, all materials used are selected from our normal high quality fencing range. Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control we had to change panel suppliers in early 2019. However, our new style pale gates and panels are supplied by the same manufacturer.
Planed Pale Gate Construction
Firstly, these gates are constructed using pressure treated and structurally graded timber. The pales are spaced ‘hit one, miss one’ the gaps between the pales are approximately the same width (69mm) as the pales. However, there are some limitations on pale spacing because of the gates 900mm width. All our Pale gates are made using five round top pales, tanalised rails (28mm x 70mm) and two gate stiles. The gate stiles finish at 45mm x 70mm and are secured to the horizontal framing with mortice and tenon joints. The gate stiles are cut to the same profile as the round top pales to present a uniform appearance.

Round top pale gates are stocked in the following sizes:
• 0.9m high x 0.9m wide (approx. 3’ x 3’).
• 1.2m high x 0.9m wide (approx. 4’ x 3’);
• 1.8m high x 0.9m wide (approx. 6’ x 3’);
We also keep a selection of planed, tanalised pales in stock with a choice of planed and sawn materials for you to construct your own bespoke gate.
Gate fixings and finishes
Finally although the gate timbers are pressure treated with Tanalith preservative, they can be enhanced further with Osmo Natural Woodstain or Osmo Country Colour. Similarly, a comprehensive range of gate furniture including T-hinges, padlocks and latches is kept in stock.
