Millboard decking is more than a collection of different decking boards. Over time Millboard have developed a range of composite edgings in both rigid and flexible styles. The Bullnose Boards are rigid edging boards and have one bullnosed edge. They are intended for straight runs on the edges of decks, steps and seating. Furthermore, each decking installation can be complemented with edgings for each of the colours in the Millboard enhanced grain range.
Millboard recommend that purpose-made edgings, rather than deckboards, are used. Square edged decking boards will exhibit more wear when used on edges that will sustain impact. Edging profiles should be used in these locations, fitted to all steps and perimeters of the deck, rather than using a standard deck board.
The Millboard fascia boards are 16mm thick and each length will undergo some flexibility. These profiles are used under the decking/edging profiles to cover the sides of the subframe. They will bend to a radius of approximately 1.2 metres and should be fixed with Durafix stainless screws.
If you require flexible edging then view square edging, flexible bullnose or fascia board as appropriate.
Co-ordinated Millboard edgings are available for the Enhanced Grain boards in the Millboard decking range. There are ten different Bullnose Boards colours to complement the decking and edgings. The fascia colour options are:
Antique Oak;
Ashwood;
Brushed Basalt;
Burnt Cedar;
Coppered Oak;
Ebony Oak;
Golden Oak;
Jarrah;
Limed Oak;
and finally Smoked Oak
Attention to detail combined with Millboard’s quality products leads to a professional looking installation. Millboard’s “How to build a curved deck with Millboard products” is a thorough YouTube presentation on a typical decking install.
For concealing any exposed cut board ends there is also a range of touch up coatings as well. This touch-up coating should increase the service life of the board – in addition to improving the look. Please note that touch up coating is not recommended for use on the surface of the board.
These composite bullnose boards offer the natural look of wood without problematic cracking, splitting, and warping. All deckboards, fascia and trims should be secured with Millboard’s Durafix stainless screw fixings. If the products are being face-fixed thein there is no need to pre-drill, simply follow the installation guide. These Durafix screws have Torx heads, the screws are lubricated and when installed correctly they are almost hidden by the Lastane coating layer.
