Heavy Duty Field Gates construction
These heavy duty field gates are made with sawn timber. Our 3’ and 4’ gates normally have one diagonal brace from top to bottom rail, 5’ gates and above have more bracing. The hanging stile is machined from 5” x 3” sawn timber, the latching stile is made from 3” x 3” sawn and the top rail is mortised and tenoned into the vertical stiles. They are intended for heavier duty applications than our Diamond Braced and Turned Heel gates.
Left hand or right hand hanging?
Our driveway gates can be hung on either side. We can offer suitable hanging sets to suit all gate sizes.
Stocked sizes and bespoke gates
Field gates are normally stocked in gate widths of 3′ and 4′ gates primarily for pedestrian use, plus 10′ and 12’ gates more suitable for vehicle use. They can be ordered in other sizes to the nearest inch, up to a maximum size of 15’. Pricing is simple, an 11’ 4” gate would be charged at the same rate as a 12’ gate. Posts and gate furniture
These field gates are heavy. Therefore we carry a range of suitable softwood wooden posts and a comprehensive range of gate furniture. Minimum sized wooden posts would normally be 125mm x 125mm for 3’ and 4’ gates, 150mm posts for 5’ to 7’ gates and 175mm or 200mm posts for 8’ to 12’ gates. Gate hanging sets are offered in 300mm, 450mm and 600m sizes from stock. Stainless gate fixings available to special order
